BLOG 3: MOVIES AND SERIES
Hi guys, today I will talk to you about my favorite
movie “Portrait de la jeune fille en feu”.
This film was written and directed by Celine
Sciamma and its main characters are Marianne (Noemi Merlant) and Heloïse (Adele
Haenel). It is set in late 18th century French Brittany and tells the story of
a woman painter (Marianne) who was hired to make the wedding portrait of the
young Heloïse (who had recently left the convent and was forced to get
engaged). The plot not only gives space to the love that is born between the
two (despite their "obligations"), but also to issues such as
abortion and the "female roles" of the time.
One of the main reasons that make it my favorite
film, is that it has a very real and profound approach to lesbian
relationships, abandoning the clichés generated by the film industry. In
addition, it wraps you in an intimate environment in which you manage to
connect with the different characters in the film.
Another aspect that I highlight of the film is its photography, since the locations used are worthy of admiration for the beauty of nature intertwined with the main actresses.
In short, I personally consider this film a work of art, since it is a completely detailed production, from the script to the image, and all this gives you an intimate, sensitive and exciting experience.
